The Practice of Charm and Taking Omens (Taking or practising Taaweez / Shagun)

1) Seventy thousand of my (Muhammad – Peace be upon him) Ummah would enter Paradise without rendering account. They would be those who would neither practise charm, nor take omens, nor do they cauterise, but they repose their trust in their Lord. (Sahih Muslim Part I; Book of Faith; Chapter XCI, page 141; 9^th edition).

2) The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, ‘There is no harm in incantation which does not smack of polytheism’. (Sahih Muslim Part III; Book of Al-Salam; Chapter CMXX, page 1197; 9^th edition).

3) The Prophet (Peace be upon him) said, ‘Do not visit (Kahins) Fortune –Tellers, and do not take omens’. (Sahih Muslim Part IV; Book of Al-Salam; Chapter CMXXXIII, page 1209; 9^th edition).
