1) Those whom they
invoke besides Allah create nothing and are themselves created. (They are
things) dead, lifeless: nor do they know when they will be raised up (Surah 16,
An-Nahl, verses 20-21).
2) It is Allah Who has created you: further, He
has provided for your sustenance; then He will cause you to die; and again He
will give you life. Are there any of your (false) "Partners" who can
do any single one of these things? Glory to Him! And high is He above the partners
they attribute (to him)! (Surah 30. Ar-Rum, verses 40).
3) Such is the Creation of Allah. Now show Me what
is there that others besides Him have created: nay, but the Transgressors are
in manifest error. (Surah 31. Luqman, verses 11).
4) Say: "Call upon other (gods) whom ye
fancy, besides Allah. They have no power,- not the weight of an atom,- in the
heavens or on earth: No (sort of) share have they therein, nor is any of them a
helper to Allah. (Surah 34, Saba, verse 22).
5) If ye invoke them, they will not listen to
your call, and if they were to listen, they cannot answer your (prayer). On the
Day of Judgment they will reject your "Partnership". And none, (O
man!) can tell thee (the Truth) like the One Who is acquainted with all things.
(Surah 35, Fatir, verse 14).
6) ‘And behold! Ye come to Us
bare and alone as We created you for the first time....We see not with you your
intercessors whom ye thought to be partners in your affairs ....’ (Surah 6,
Al-An’am, Verse 94 Part).
7) Do they indeed ascribe to
Him as partners things that can create nothing, but are themselves
created? No aid can they give them, nor
can they aid themselves. (Surah 7, Al-Ar’af, Verse 191-192).
8) Verily those whom ye
call upon besides Allah are servants like unto you: call upon them, and let
them listen to your prayer, if ye are (indeed) truthful! (Surah 7, Al-Ar’af,
Verse 194).
9) One Day shall We
gather them all together. Then Shall We say to those who joined gods (with Us):
‘To your place! Ye and those ye joined as partners.’
We shall separate them, and their partners
shall say: ‘it was not us that ye worshipped! Enough is Allah for a witness
between us and you: we certainly knew nothing of your worship of us!’ (Surah
10, Yunus, Verses 28 and 29).
10) Why then was no help
forthcoming to them from those whom they worshipped as gods, besides Allah, as
a means of access (to Allah)? Nay, they left them in the lurch: but that was
their falsehood and their invention (Surah 46, Al-Zukhruf, verse28).
11) Nor are alike those that are living and those that
are dead. Allah can make any that He wills to hear; but thou canst not make
those to hear who are (buried) in graves. (Surah 35, Al-Fatir, verse 22).
12) So verily thou canst not make the dead to hear,
nor canst thou make the deaf to hear the call, when they show their backs and
turn away.(Surah 30, Al-Rum, verse 52).
13) Nor are alike those that are living and
those that are dead. Allah can make any that He wills to hear; but thou canst
not make those to hear who are (buried) in graves. (Surah 35, Al-Fatir, verse
22).
14) And who is more astray than one who invokes
besides Allah, such as will not answer him to the Day of Judgment, and who (in
fact) are unconscious of their call (to them)? And when mankind are gathered
together (at the Resurrection), they will be hostile to them and reject
their worship (altogether)! (Surah 46,
Al-Ahqaf, verses 5-6).
15) They call on such deities, besides Allah,
as can neither hurt nor profit them: that is straying far indeed (from the
Way)! (Perhaps) they call on one whose harm is nearer than his profit: evil,
indeed, is the patron, and evil the companion (for help)! (Surah 22, Al-Hajj,
verses 12-13).
16) Yet they worship, besides Allah, things for
which no authority has been sent down to them, and of which they have (really)
no knowledge: for those that do wrong there is no helper. (Surah 22, Al-Hajj,
verse 71).
17) O men! Here is a parable set forth! Listen
to it! Those on whom, besides Allah, ye call, cannot create (even) a fly, if
they all met together for the purpose! And if the fly should snatch away
anything from them, they would have no power to release it from the fly. Feeble
are those who petition and those whom they petition! No just estimate have they
made of Allah. For Allah is He Who is strong and able to carry out His Will. Allah
chooses Messengers from angels and from men for Allah is He Who hears and sees
(all things) (Surah 22, Al-Hajj, verses 73-74-75).
18) Narrated
'Aisha and Ibn 'Abbas: On his death-bed Allah's Apostle (Peace be upon him) put
a sheet over his-face and when he felt hot, he would remove it from his face.
When in that state (of putting and removing the sheet) he said, "May
Allah's Curse be on the Jews and the Christians for they build places of
worship at the graves of their prophets." (By that) he intended to warn
(the Muslim) from what they (i.e. Jews and Christians) had done. (Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 4, Book 56, Number 660: Book of the
Merits of Sunnah) (Islambase Publications).
19) Narrated 'Aisha: When
the Prophet (Peace be upon him) became ill, some of his wives talked about a
church which they had seen in Ethiopia and it was called Mariya. Um Salma and
Um Habiba had been to Ethiopia, and both of them narrated its (the Church's)
beauty and the pictures it contained. The Prophet raised his head and said,
"Those are the people who, whenever a pious man dies amongst them, make a
place of worship at his grave and then they make those pictures in it. Those
are the worst creatures in the Sight of Allah." (Sahih
Bukhari: Volume 2, Book 23, Number 425:
Book of Funerals (Janaaiz)) (Islambase Publications).
20) Jundub reported: I heard from the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon
him) five days before his death and he said: I stand acquitted before Allah
that I took any one of you as friend,
for Allah has taken me as His friend, as he took
Ibrahim as His friend. Had I taken any one of my Ummah as a friend, I would
have taken Abu Bakr as a friend. Beware of those who preceded you and used to
take the graves of their prophets and righteous men as places of worship, but
you must not take graves as mosques; I forbid you to do that. (Sahih Muslim,
Book 4, Prayers, Kitab Al-Salat Hadees No 1083, Chapter 47: Forbiddance To
Build Mosques On The Graves And Decorating Them With Pictures And Forbiddance
To Use The Graves As Mosques http://www.mclean.faithweb.com
).
21) Abu'l−Hayyaj al−Asadi told that 'Ali (b. Abu
Talib) said to him: Should I not send you on the same mission as Allah's
Messenger (may peace be upon him) sent me? Do not leave an
image without obliterating it, or a high grave without
levelling It. This hadith has been reported by Habib with the same chain of
transmitters and he said: (Do not leave) a picture without obliterating it.
(Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Prayers, Kitab Al-Salat Hadees No 2115, Chapter 198: Commandment
In Regard To The Levelling Of The Grave http://www.mclean.faithweb.com
).
22) Jabir said: Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon
him) forbade that the graves should be plastered or they be used as sitting
places (for the people), or a building should be built over
them. (Sahih Muslim, Book 4, Prayers, Kitab Al-Salat
Hadees No 2116, Chapter 199: It Is Forbidden To Plaster The Grave Or
Constructing Anything Over It http://www.mclean.faithweb.com
).
